Middle-East Maternal Haplogroups

The same maternal (mtDNA) haplogroups are found in Europe and the Middle-East with similar distribution patterns. Some haplogroups are more common among certain ethnicities but the variation is due to differences in the proportion of the same set of mtDNA haplogroups.
38% of mtDNA in Arabs comes from haplogroups outside the Middle-East because of a significant gene flow into Arab communities from outside.
8% Yemenite women share the African L haplogroup.
